S1-3 Broad General Education
Pupils will develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French and Spanish and will be provided with a range of experiences that allow for individual progress. The focus of lessons will mainly be on vocabulary recognition. Listening and speaking will be the main areas developed, using lots of visuals and Boardmaker symbols to aid comprehension. Some pupils will be able to read and recognise the words in Spanish and some will be able to write or ‘overwrite’ the Spanish words. ICT and songs will be used to aid comprehension and engage learners.
When appropriate Makaton signing will be used.
S4-6 Senior Phase - Focus on National Qualifications
Pupils will continue to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French and Spanish and will be provided with a range of experiences which allow for individual progress. ICT and songs will be used to aid comprehension and engage learners. When appropriate Makaton signing will be used.
Pupils will focus on unit outcomes within their National qualifications.
